Hang on to your hats and glasses cuz Patrick Stewart is coming to Dallas! That’s right kiddies, Sir Patrick Stewart is scheduled to appear at the Dallas, TX Comic Con on May 19-20, 2012. And seriously, if you’re anywhere near Texas, stop on by, where else can you see Patrick Stewart for fifteen bucks? If you aren’t familiar with it, Dallas ComicCon is another of the spectacular fan run conventions out there that give the attendees (i.e. you guys) a more up close and personal time with the celebrities. The venue is smaller, the seating is closer, and the photo op lines aren’t nearly as long as others. All of this adds up to a ton of fun for all the fans.CONTINUE READING >>
Call us Hey Star Trek! We have always been Hey Star Trek! Even if our illustrious founder and CEO had called us something else, called us Hey You! or Lookout! Star Trek!, we would have still been Hey Star Trek! For we have always found ourselves in the position of loving Star Trek, but needing to touch it on the shoulder and say: Hey. Excuse us, but?
Or else yanking it from the street as an oncoming car was coming toward it, saying: Hey! Are you trying to get yourself killed!?
When we were a much younger company, when we were making pictures for the very awesome Make Me Dehner Dot Com, mixing sound for the first minute or so for each episode of geek fights, we had made our minds up about all sorts of things.
Amongst these things, we knew, like you, that Voyager was the weakest of the Star Trek shows. We also knew, just like many of you, that Farscape was lame and couldn't possibly be any good. We hope now, that you see where this issue is headed, gentle reader....
...and it's going to be okay. Just relax, read, listen to our proposals, and understand that the end of the world is happening in 2012. Yes, as the Mayan calendar is playing out its final year, its time for all of us to examine those truths we hold dear.
This holiday season and on through til the End of Times, we're giving each of you the opportunity to ignore a petty prejudice and embrace something new. That's what we've been up to for most of the year and it has been very, very rewarding for us.
Because Star Trek typically leads by example, Hey Star Trek! will lay out a few examples of how we did what we're asking all of you to do.
Since it's premiere last month, Colm Meaney's new Drama Hell on Wheels has seen excellent ratings and reviews from critics. We just learned that the AMC series has been picked up for a second season. Hell on Wheels focuses on former Confederate soldier Cullen Bohannon, portrayed by Anson Mount, whose quest for vengeance has led him to the Union Pacific Railroad's westward construction of the first transcontinental railroad. Colm plays Thomas "Doc" Durant, a greedy entrepreneur taking full advantage of the changing times. As the railroad comes closer to completion and he becomes rich beyond his wildest dreams, he becomes more and more concerned about his place in history.CONTINUE READING >>
This might a be a little late, but for those in the pacific time zone, you can still catch Wil Wheaton on the Nerdist: Year In Review. BBC America is airing the episode at 9pm ET / PT and not only will it feature young Wesley Crusher, but you get a double dose of scifi awesome with Firefly's (and Castle's) Nathan Fillion.CONTINUE READING >>
So, shooting for Star Trek XII (or Star Trek 2 as the kids on the interwebs are calling it) is set to begin next month. J.J. tells MTV News that the sets are almost complete and that "Damon, Bob and Alex — they wrote the most amazing script, and I'm thrilled to get a chance to direct it. It's totally mine to screw up, so if you don't like it, it's completely on me." We dig J.J's self effacing humor. One thing that were not so keen on is post-production 3D. Everyone has heard that "2" will be 3D, but from what J.J. has mentioned, it won't be shot in 3D.
"We're shooting on film, 2-D, and then we'll do a good high-end conversion like the 'Harry Potter' movie and all that. Luckily, with our release date now we have the months needed to do it right because if you rush it, it never looks good."CONTINUE READING >>
Thanks to our friend Stompy for posting a very funny and special season's greetings from one non-holographic Robert Picardo. That's right kiddos, The Doctor sends his best to you and me in this special youtube video. We even get to see a glimpse of his alter-latin-ego Alphonso. Who's Alphonso, you ask? He's the most interesting man this side of a Dos Equis. Actually, he's the star of several short web clips starring Bob as a latin (or Italian, were not sure) lover who answers viewer's questions in "Ask Alphonso".
Also something that Bob mentions in the video is his new CD "Scrooge". He takes on the lead role as Scrooge in this new recording of the soundtrack from the 1970 film version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, featuring original music by Academy Award-winner Leslie Bricusse. Bob is also joined by Trek alumni Chase Masterson who appears as Mrs. Fezziwig in the recording.CONTINUE READING >>
We would like to wish a very happy birthday to one of our favorite ensigns, Harry Kim, Garrett Wang from Star Trek: Voyager. As you know, Garrett is a fan favorite at conventions and is very active in the fan-run convention circuit. For all of the Trek fans in Germany, Garrett will be attending FedCon May 17-20, 2012 in Dusseldorf.CONTINUE READING >>

"It's like we're living in the future." I said that at least five dozen times over the past year or so. Everyone knows about Apple's new voice activated assistant named Siri that's available for the iPhone 4s (why it's not available for my iPhone 4, I'll never understand). It seems the Google Android team has been working on a similar app / service that has been lovingly named Majel. And, yes, it IS named for the first lady of the galaxy, Majel Roddenberry. Pretty darn cool.CONTINUE READING >>
